Here are the types of resources you will find...

Type

Explanation

Hand out

Generally 1-2 pages that provide trainees with extra information about a performance criterion.

Overhead transparency

OHTs can be used with a digital projector or printed and used on a conventional overhead projector.

PowerPoint presentation

For use with a digital projector during training or coaching sessions.

Skill activity

Consists of ideas, advice or practical exercises to help trainers facilitate effective and efficient skills training.

Thinking/feeling activity

Consists of ideas, advice or written activities to help trainers facilitate effective and efficient learning.

Assessment activity

Consists of ideas and advice to help trainers and assessors conduct effective and efficient formative assessment.

Assessment tool

Usually a form used to guide the assessment process and record evidence. May also be used to help assessors make a judgement.

Assessment portfolio

A file or book in which a candidate's evidence is recorded and stored.

Video or vignette

For use during training. May be available on VHS tape, CD ROM, Video CD or DVD.

Teaching tool

Consists of graphics or written prompts to help facilitators explain parts of the standard. Mostly these are designed to be used in-car.

Lesson

These are like mini lessons. Mostly they help teach Elements of the standard. They can be read independently but are best used in conjunction with a formal lesson.

Policy or procedure

These may be your Service's current policy or procedure or a generic example.

Check list

A written checklist to be used as a reminder or record by a facilitator or participant.

Booklet

A small publication in either A5 or A4 explaining an aspect of driving, a particular vehicle or facilitation.

Questionnaire

Questionnaire or survey used to collect personnel's views on a particular subject.
