notes: |
Discourages potentially dangerous actions of others. For example, by maintaining a normal position on the road when having to drive slowly, rather than allowing someone to overtake when it could be dangerous. |
Protects and assists vulnerable road users. For example, by hanging back from a cyclist in slow-moving traffic to allow them to pass parked cars safely, or reducing speed to allow a pedestrian who is stuck in the middle of the road to complete her crossing. |

Lets other road users know that a situation could be dangerous. For example, flashes brake lights to alert following drivers when there may be a need to brake firmly and they may not be ready for it. Flashing brake lights is not recommended for discouraging tailgaters - it could be perceived as aggression (a preferred method is to pull over or change lanes and let other driver past). |

Moves dangerous obstacles off the road (but only in circumstances where it is safe and reasonable to do so). An alternative to this may be to notify the appropriate authority. |
