Recognises own poor driving |

notes: |
Monitors own driving. |

Recognises when their driving differs from that specified by the standard. (To do this the driver must first know the standard.) This criterion covers significant differences in performance and behaviour to Unit 3 - Element 1 PC (f) Manages attention, deals with lapses in concentration. |
This criterion is particularly important for ambulance personnel because if they fail to see their errors they can become conditioned to inappropriate behaviour. This could cause them to believe they are better drivers than they actually are, and fuel an illusion of control. |
Evidence of satisfactory performance includes drivers commenting on their errors as they drive and recalling their errors at the end of a drive. The errors they recall should be similar to those noted by the assessor. Some prompting is acceptable. |
When describing errors, the driver should be able to recall what they did do rather than just stating what they failed to do. |
