Driving to an emergency, and the events at a scene, can occupy much of the driver's attention (particularly for new personnel). It is easy to step out of an ambulance without thinking about personal safety. |

The driver should do a wide scan of the side mirror and look over his or her shoulder before stepping out of the vehicle. |
